The process of choosing our topic was somewhat back and forth. We knew that we wanted to have a focus on Freeganism, but we didn’t know how to present that with out making our research too narrow or too broad. This was our first challenge. However, as a group we decided that we would focus on how Freeganism can inspire people to be more conscious of the food they mindlessly waste. We then decided that we would expand our research by discussing alternative changes in life style that are not as dramatic as Freeganism, but can also be affective for conserving food.
We wanted to convey as much information as we could, but in a fun and engaging manner. We decided, as a group, that we would like to make this a multimodal project. We had reservations at first, because we have already completed an assignment, our Twitterives, using this avenue of expression; however, we decided that it would be our best option. The multimodal project will allow us to express our research in so many different ways. The specific ways in which we will do so are still up for discussion within our group.
This brings me to our next area of the project…the collaboration process. We have read many articles, as previously discussed in our blogs, about the different forms collaborative projects can take. I would say that at this time our form of collaboration has been hierarchical, meaning the work has been divided up among our group members and completed individually. This has not been deliberate. Each group member is on a different schedule, so class time has been our only time slot for collaboration. Moreover, this is not what we foresee in the future. Ideally, we would love for our group to collaborate in a unified effort to complete the work together; sharing ideas and building upon them together. This is a goal that we have set as a group and will work toward in the upcoming weeks.
We hope you enjoy our end result!
